Martin's powder is quite highly rated from what I've heard - the blokes down the BP club like it, and they shoot distances I can't even see - just clearing that up :)

I compress and granulate as I load 45/70 and snider brass as well as muzzle load. I made a compressing die using aluminium ends and two split plastic tubes I hose clamp closed - made that at work...

Been thinking on this a bit - when I started hunting I had no one to show me the ropes and there weren't no internet, so I spent a good couple or three years stumbling around for not a lot of result....

I'm old and shoot open sights all the time - I go hunting with them. I can't use apertures, I have an eyesight issue that blurs out the centre of the aperture - so I use Vee sights mounted forward...

I believe those 'express' sights were used more for 'up and bang' (dangerous game) rifles - the wide vee didn't hide/obstruct the sight picture and the front bead sat above the vertical platinum line...

My nephew uses Japanese water stones and they get stuff scary sharp. They're also expensive so I just use whatever stones I pick up from here and there - then I strop them on a leather belt backed...
