"Balance" can be a bit of a personal thing. Personally I prefer something with a bit of weight in the nose. I don't shoot muzzle light rifles well.

Personally option 2 would be my choice. Then perhaps rechamber the 7mm08 to 284win, although reloading would be an advantage there.

Actually the trip I did this time last year into Bob's hut I shot two having only walked 150m from the hut. People are starting to give me a bit of grief about it.:(
