I found the 140gn Nosler ABs (MV 3000 fps) to be good killers in my 270win. You've always got your 30cal and 7mm magnums if you want to shoot a loooong way.

Don't think you will have to worry about them being explosive at that MV. They are designed to come out of much bigger cartridges much faster.

Ex Rod and Rifle editor Graeme Henry was a big fan of the 3x Leupold too. Personally I would stick with something with a straight tube (20mm, 30mm objective).
