I couldn't imagine having to travel etc just to shoot I think I'd give up if I had to. Have little range here on the farm 100 for sighting then a few gongs out to 700. Makes load development easy...

You can still use that shooting rest just move the rifle forward so that the for end of the stock is in the front support. The rear support will be somewhere behind the pistol grip.

It's not recommended. It will almost certainly shoot to a different point of impact if shot off a bipod or pack in the traditional manner.
