Klhari liked post by Spitfire On thread : rifle bedding kit
I’ve done a few Remingtons and Tikkas with Devcon and it’s great stuff. I hVe also used Nathan Foster’s bedding kit, which worked fine too. A lot of other resins would concern me due to the risk of...

WillB liked post by Spitfire On thread : Scope bell touching the barrel just (sometimes) should I risk it
Had this on a mate’s Sauer 202 with a NF SHV. I put a piece of electrical tape on the bottom of the front ring and the top of the rear ring and it lifted the scope 1mm or so. He’s shot a hat full of...

cameronjackwhite liked post by Spitfire On thread : 7mm rem mag vs .300 win mag
I have both. The .300 WM chucks 208s at 2980 and the 7 RM throws 180s at 2840. Both have the same effect on whatever they hit. Both push back pretty briskly, but brakes keep it sensible. All of...

I’ve had two of them. One was in the US where whitetail were on the menu and it was ideal for the job. The other was in the UK where muntjac, roe, fallow and foxes were the main job, and also ideal. ...

Interesting to note regional differences and preferences. Weather in Norway is at least as bad (likely a good bit worse) than here, yet blue is the order of the day there and stainless here. The much...

Eurooptic is taking pre-orders and charging US$1600. That will no doubt become NZ$6000 by the time we see them.

Norway liked post by Spitfire On thread : Classic Highland deer stalk, what to expect
Thanks Norway. I have stalked many times in Sutherland and Caithness, mostly in Winter after hinds. It’s very different to stalking here - generally open hill, lots of deer, and relatively easy...

You will be limited running a .284 on a short action. It will work, but you will not be able to run 180s and 162s will likely need to be seated deep. .260 is a great cartridge but in a different...

Gibo liked post by Spitfire On thread : Tikka ring recommendations
Talleys and Optilocks are both good, but I prefer Optilocks of the two. Yes, they cost more and are heavier, but they are very strong and solid. The plastic insert clamps down and grips a scope...

Yip, low Talleys will be the go for that scope and won’t limit dialling. Plenty of elevation for the ranges you mentioned too. Optilocks would be good too, but quite a bit more spendy.

I ran mine at a very slow but very accurate 2650 fps with 162s and 2213sc. Still killed everything stone dead.
