Try just using your rifle’s chamber as a comparator. Bump the shoulder until you get just a slight amount of resistance when closing the bolt. Too much and you will be head spacing off the belt...

NABLR for a Grendel? Much better options than that, and the high BC is wasted, plus they are very expensive for shooting goats. It’s a bonded projectile and not a great long range design as it relies...

Yes, he’s good - was doing the Gun City riflesmithing when they were in Mot. He’s an interesting bugger too. Dave Ward, ph 03 543 3777, of Dovedale Road, Nelson.

2217 is a great powder for heavies. My .300WM with a 26” barrel does 2980 with 208s. 2217 is also very temp stable and pretty easy to find.

Both will get the job done, but .300WM comes into its own with 200+ grain projectiles. I have a 26” .300WM that throws 208 ELD-Ms at 2980fps, which a .300WSM will not do. .300WSM is more...

2217/H1000 - temperature stable and good velocity, plus relatively easy to source. 77.6 grains with 208 ELD-M in mine.

Plenty good enough for me and I was surprised at the speed the 208s zipped along at. Interestingly, it gained almost 100 fps after 90 rounds or so.

After 21 pages I guess .25-06 has achieved sufficient interest, and rightly so. I have had three over the years and shot a hatful of deer with them. If I was to have another it would be barreled...

I have found that A-Max, ELD-M and ELD-X like 20-30 thou jump in my rifles. That’s based on loading for .25-06, .30.06. 7RM, .300WM, .284 Win. All but one liked 20 thou and then a bit of tinkering...

Getting it out of the US will be your first problem. Without an export licence you will be committing a federal offence and it’s taken seriously.

It’s your choice, but I would go 6.5x47 if it were me. Like the Creedmoor, it was specifically designed for target shooting, but is a shorter case and has small primer pockets as standard. That...
