I use my Howa as my boat gun, it gets sprayed with salt water and it's not rusty. Took my Sako to Fiordland for 10 days,camped meters from the sea, pissed down with rain etc it didn't rust either....

My safe is in a very dry and stable temp location probably helps, I also wipe down all my firearms with crc longlife before putting away in the safe, never had an issue with any rust on anything.

I've done exactly the same many years ago with a Silver Crown. Screwed it back on and carried on. It didn't seem to affect it while I had it but it is long gone now.

Yes and yes maybe. Old autos were shit house to drive and shit house for economy. New autos have lots of gears and lock up in every gear and in theroy could be more efficient than a manual....
