I had a 243 with that type of stock back around 84-85, nice rifle, from memory had an 18 inch barrel. That one looks in good nick so should shoot well, back from when Remingtons were good shooters.

Does the turret change height as you dial up/down on that model VX6? Is it possible to fit a shim under the turret so it cant go down more than 1/2 a turn past zero once sighted in?

Good idea alright. We do similar in the manufacturing plant I work in for flow controls on pneumatic systems. Never thought of using it on a scope but I've also never owned a dialable scope.
