Drill the selector hole in the pistol grip deeper, so that you can remove without destroying spring. Install a grub screw to where the spring used to sit, this will hold spring back in place....

I normally hold them down with a thin butter knife or something similar. Its pretty tricky to remove them again without damaging the spring though.
