Used a mercator for 30 years until I was 50 or so but in the end became too uncomfortable to hold so eventually changed to a "proper knife" in a decent steel and was amazed at the difference in speed...

Get extra batteries with the torch, they can ship one pair in the torch and others in doctored reject tubes. For a charger I'd go for a Nitecore of some description.

My mate does it for doc. Uses a short barreled 14.5x114, same Calibre they shoot tanks with in WW2. His 50 BMG wasn't getting it done. Apparently whale skulls are really thick.

Done, and on its way back. Took 15 minutes with fine emery paper and 4k CBN emulsion on a strop. Then a strop with black and finished with white. The edge just required a little blending and thinning...

I've got a NITECORE HC30 and it is a great torch. it comes with a headband too but is an L shape which comes in really handy and is only slightly bigger than the 18650 Battery itself
