    Mechanic of 25 years here. The Mazda 2.2 diesel is probably the worst engine they've ever made. Seriously bad stuff. They have a habit of hand-grenading at about 120,000km. Avoid at all costs.

    The 70s/80s versions were solid guns built by Nikko. There's not a lot to break on them so don't let that put you off, capable gun smiths will be able to whip up new firing pins if ever needed....
