I've owned both, Ruger is a lighter rougher build but shoots well (300BLK), Howa is a heavier more polished build and shot like a laser (.243 ranch)

Ex Rod and Rifle editor Graeme Henry was a big fan of the 3x Leupold too. Personally I would stick with something with a straight tube (20mm, 30mm objective).

Very nice looking rifle. Depends what your intended use is. From a classic point of view the old 3x Leupold was "the" scope in it time. I used one on my 308 for many years and wasn't...

To be able to shoot it with blank loads for re-enacting, your only lawful option is '3'. An original black powder firearm possessed without license as an 'antique' may not be fired (blank or...

As Zimmer says, but the fault is probably due to a gradual weakening of the mainspring. If the rifle had been left cocked for a period of time this could bring the problem up. Any half decent...

To cope with the twisty hilly landscape in NZ, you can make a tighter bend in the track with narrow gauge.

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used? Well, because that's the way they built them in...

Reliability and minute of (chest with any pick of animal) for accuracy matters only for pest control. I used one for a while it was good enough. Never bought one though cos at time it seemed like...

Agree with Philipo , 12 power max on a 17 hmr. I have a 6 x 24 Nikko Nighteater on my HMR, total over kill and never use more than 10 - 12 power. Most of the time its on 6 x . Be careful with a...
