It's pretty easy to spend $3-400 ($550 in the case of the Stoney Creek Nitz) on hunting brand crap that will last a fraction of the time and perform poorly though. I'm not a rich man by any means...

I was suprised by the Bushnell Engage 4-16x44. Exposed locking turrets were pretty nice and ED glass was more than i was expecting and can get them for under $600. Could be worth a look
