I can only relate my experience but from 2015 on. I think importing is an option if something is unique and special. Collectable rifles, fancy grades, high grade stocks etc. unobtainable stuff in NZ....

Not really ideal in NZ The 30-06 you mentioned will do all you need The 9.3 is good in the bush but vastly more than you need. I played around with the 9.3 because I liked big powerful rifles....
