   I have just been through this exercise with a mates Tikka with a 20 inch barrel. 162eldm and rl17 giving us 2700fps with an sd of 4fps shoots amazingly well.

   Yes. I run the 162gr Amax at 2640fps using AR2208. It has proven itself to be an effective combination having taken animals from point blank to 550 yards.

   The SST is a common bullet for the .243. My experience of it on probably a dozen or more reds is that it’s one of the messier bullets I’ve tried, especially when shot broadside through the shoulder....

   Bit more of a temp swing through seasons down south and have you chronod the load at different temps? Of course you won't have issues if the loads developed in summer but the speed may drop off...

   Yes I recall it well, I was spotting through a 21X scope and snapped a few pics off too. The first one stumbled for about 3 steps and then rolled down the hill a bit landing with the exit wound...

    Or again if you haven't bought the powder yet, you could use boring old 2208. Goes really good in my Tikka t3 7mm08. 40.5 grains pushes162 ELD-M at 2600fps from a 19inch barrel comfortably...
