Yip personal PREFERENCE...like blonds or redheads. Boobs vs bums. If it works for you and your comfortable with it,don't change just cause someone else says thiers is bigger than yours.

Il add that most people seem to aim too far back. Putting the projectile just on the forward edge of the shoulder/leg bone will Incapacitate the animal much quicker than the rear side of the leg.

Gimp is, of course, correct. He is also very far from being a bad shot. I have shot deer with pure lead bullets out of a 19th century .44-40 which has half the energy of a .223, and the deer all...

Yeah no 'heavy for calibre' bullets involved as this was back in 1991 when I was a student at Teachers College. My mate & I did a Sth Island trip and this happened when we were shooting rabbits in...

Yep I know there are animals that die naturally in or near rivers etc. But I drag anything I kill away if I possibly can. A while back a mate and I shot 3 chamois Up In the basin below scott creek...

I drag mine out of sight and try to go back a week later just on evening Mr fat piggy may be there - but yes there's lazy buggers around - but goat culling at times we had 50 or more carcasses one...

I think you miss the point. 3 or 4 hunters out of all those posting. Dont get me wrong, the 223 is a fantastic cartridge! Ive used one for most of the last 30 years. I like it. But if Im doing a...

I hope he keeps that secret from non-nato countries! No need for Kevlar body armour, just plaster yourself in mud and you’re good to go! Three pages in and no one has attempted to answer the...

woods223 liked post by grandpamac On thread : Otorohanga rifle range closed
Greetings, The ranges that I know of are still all open. These are ranges that have been set up properly in the first place. There may be some that were casual ranges on a farmers paddock used by...

Stay away from the Nissan chassis snappers, there’s a reason the NZDF got rid of them as fast as they could for the equally suspect tritons in the same decade. Also 07-09 PJ ranger/bt-50s...

woods223 liked post by Shearer On thread : 22 mag for goats?
I think the purpose of the OP was to ask is the 22mag capable of taking a small group of goats at a reasonable range, not is the 22mag the ideal goat cartridge. The answer is "yes", if done within...

One got away. The first was an easy stationary shot just inside the bush edge from about 75 metres. Then they broke cover and ran into the paddock across the face of the hill but they didn't see...

I always found it best to identify the lead animal as best you can, then have a rough plan as to what which animal is best to shoot next each time. Variables being dominance, sex, age and proximity...

Apparently they used the same technique for the big mobs of deer back in the day,gut shoot the lead hind and clean up the rest while confused with no leader.
