   Just to clarify, Doc Hunting permits are solely for public land and do not allow you to hunt game birds. Private land you need permission from the landowner.

    The rule is that it's ok to check in. I wouldn't try to take it in his carry on, major pain for all involved. On regional flights (not main centres) checked in bags don't even get screened...

    haha thanks, yeah was a bit of a decision as the rifle has history with me but not much use sitting in the safe, rather get it humming and use it. You're right about the barrel, thin little bugger...
