    270. 90g hollow points for rabbits, hares, wallaby. 100 or 110g soft point for goats, fallow etc and 130 to 160g for deer and tahr.

Fixed it. Sorry, pet peave of mine! 308 Winchester for me. Can load from 125 to 180 grains, rifles tend to not be fussy and plentiful ammo and components. If I can only have one load Id go 165gr....

#1 choice.270w fed a good 130grn suppressed. overkill for wallabies and rabbits but it works for anything. #2 choice love the 223 with 50-55grn softpoints but big animal out past 150 yards the .270...

yeah_na_missed liked post by Barry the hunter On thread : 222 vs 223 on deer
Which is better 222 or 223? 222 Remington performance is only slightly less than the more common 223 Remington. A 55 grain 222 Remington round travels at 3,095 feet per second with 1,170 foot-pounds...

Both the above are good, but not Bunji-level good! Back to greater distances, I have the small Leupold 1.5-5x20 on the hunting rifle by design. If I can see to take a deer cleanly then I can....

blip - I'm about the same as you - 200- 250m is plenty. I like to be real certain that I'm actually shooting at an animal, and that I'll not cause any unnecessary suffering. I'm a softie like that.
