Yea thats never going to work it needs a stud that sits proud of the surface it beds against to work properly. Either mount a new stud or go for a short rail and a picatinny type bipod ie mtn gear

I'd whip a little hole into the flat d shape behind that recessed plastic thing and screw a steel stud into that. A bit of super glue in there as you wind it in and it won't shift, no more problem.
