But my general purpose load is really a 70 grain Speer. Which is 26.5 g of 2208 and CCI400 for 2950 fps out of the same 20" barreled CZ527

Both loads will shoot into around .75 to an inch for five shots depending on how I hold my mouth.
    Typo?

The fact you can still neck size them is not an indication. That load is way over maximum.

No, it's one grain over maximum, and in my rifle it gets less pressure than the book max does. I have a good chronograph and consider such things. Some people act as if book maximums are like a brick wall, but they are many variables and are more like saying what a collective safe driving speed is.

The 70g load is half a grain over, and same situation.

You aren't getting less pressure than book max. Book max will be within the SAAMI limit of 55,000psi. But the CIP limit for 223 is 62,000psi which you are just within according to GRT.

Thats a cool program. I do it with my chronograph - I get less velocity for the same loads with that powder in that rifle than the reloading guide does.

    I'm responding to this statement:

it's one grain over maximum, and in my rifle it gets less pressure than the book max does.
You're saying that 28.5gr in your rifle is giving you less pressure than 27.5gr gives in ADI's test rifle. I'm telling you that that is not the case after inputting your chrono readings into GRT.

I'm not saying it's unsafe nor am I suggesting you stop. I ran some pretty damn spicy loads in my 223 too. Just making sure you are aware.

sure, just talking pressure: If I am getting less velocity then ADI, then how could it be otherwise? (Ignoring your program for a second)

For example if my rifle has a bigger jump to the rifling than theirs I will be getting less velocity (less pressure) regardless of the same loads. This will not be predicted by the program.

You have 4" less barrel than ADI.

If I up your barrel length to 24", it suggests your load would be giving you 3450fps.

Yes I remember working it out taking the barrel length into account. Their max was 3380fps supposedly with a grain less. I was happy with 3300fps in a shorter barrel.

I take your point though, when you work it through there is not going to be much in it

presumably you put powder in through the top then a bullet after that, to keep it in
