    150g ELDX and 2206H

    Hi team,

    While on parental leave I'm having a fiddle with some loads for a shortened (17") Tikka 7mm08.

    Has anyone used 2206H with the 150gr ELDX in a similar-ish setup? If so, where do you think a safe starting point would be for development and what velocities were you getting?

    Cheers guys, appreciate the help.

    Greetings,
    The .308 data in the Hodgdons pistol data section should be your go to info. They have used a 15 inch barrel so you should get around 60 fps more velocity in your barrel than listed or a little over 2,700 fps. The loads are the same as those for the 24 inch barrel. The projectile in the data is the Nosler BT which should be very close to your ELDX.
    GPM.
    Oops wrong cartridge,

    But wait, there is pistol data for the 7mm-08 as well. You should get about 2,560 fps and the Sierra projectile would be even closer to the ELDM. I am using the 145 grain Speer for 600 yard target shooting which shoot very well.

    Thanks GPM! Always forget to check hodgedon data. That'll be a good starting point thanks.

    Finaly got out to test my loads using 2206h rifle is a Tikka t3x with 20" barrel my coal was 71.7mm Winchester brass fed primers I started at 39 and went to 40.5 in .5 Increments
    39= 2703fps with a es of 13 35mm 3 shot grp super light recoil
    39.5 = 2726fps ES 46 40mm grp worst recoil
    40= 2760ish (forgot to reset chrono so only picked up 2) ES 19 17mm grp
    40.5 =2776fps ES 5 35mm grp (pulled the shit out of one and other 2 touching) no pressure signs found which I though I would.
    To confirm the Chrono speeds fired 3 120nbt over it at average of 3166 ES 12 and 10mm grp. I have validated this to 500yds so Chrono reading well.
    The 40gr nd 40.5gr loads will be worth further looking aswell as loading a few more up higher.
    Very happy with results
    here is what i ended up with my 7mm08

    For what its worth-20" tikka, win brass, fed210, 41gn 2208 150eldx = 2580fps over garmin C1 chrony. 50fps lower than my optical chrony had indicated. Knocks deer over just fine tho! I'm still curious to try some 2206H to see what it does.

    @Mackattack This is awesome thanks mate! Funnily enough I was doing some more reading last night and had copied your original post to refer back to later!
    I'll be running a tikka t3x too so hopefully similar velocity and accuracy should be doable.

    Out of interest did you end up using this load for a while or move onto something else?

    @Hunty1 This seems a little slower than I would have expected from 20" barrel? Great to hear it still does the trick though! I'm hoping to find something accurate around the 2600fps mark so that I still have 2000fps impact velocity at 400yds (in perfect conditions...)

    No worries. Yea I have kept with this load. Although other than paper for some practice i haven't tried it on an animal. Everything I've shot since has been with a spook and shoot load of 120gr soft point in the bush
