    162 Amax Twist Rate?

I've been asked to try 162 Amax in a Savage 7mm08 with a nominal 1:9.5 twist. Waste of time? Rifle groups well with 140 Nosler.

They work sweet in my vanguard which has the same 1:9.5 twist but a bit more speed as its a rem mag, they may or may not work in a 7mm-08, you don't know until you try!

First attempt I shot a 65mm vertical string @ 200M, 2 shots together, another well out. Bit suspicious. And not many slugs to play with!

Why? The 140NBT is an efficient killer at 7mm08 ranges.

Plus 7mm A Maxes are like rocking horse shit to find at present anyway.

My tikka M595 has 1:9.5 twist and is chambered in .284win. It shoots the 162amax well out to 600m no problem. Haven't tried it any further with this rifle, but can't see it being an issue.

It's only a 7/08 remember guys. To a certain degree velocity will overcome a slower twist rate and you are not comparing apples with apples when mentioning rem mags and .284's

James is on the money, I wouldn't bother fucking around with the 162 A-Max in a 7/08 and I have heaps of them

9.5 can be marginal with the 162 esp at 7-08 velocities.

It does say 1-8 on the box...

You love teasing people with your stocks dont you greg lol.
I have run them in a 9.5 twist from 25-2650ish and they stabilised fine. I just stick with 140s though. In the real world hubting the 140s do everything needed without supply.issues.
The 150gr long range accubond would be where i would focus if wanting to improve bc in 708

    162 Amax Twist Rate?

The 150 scirocco may be worth a look as well. @ .515 BC
They (6.5) kill well at all ranges I have tried them and the BC stacks up in real world applications in the 6.5 variant. 7mm should be just as good.

162 amax goes awesome in my 708. Only doing 2600 out of a 20 inch barrel. It's 1:9.5 I believe.

Some people get turned away from likes of soikd and bonded bullets for there price. Once you give them a good go and tip some animals up you get to see how well constructed good hunting projectiles are and wouldnt go back for a bit of bc its bugger all in the real world

I'm using the 140gr BT for 85% of my shooting and swear by them. I also use the 140gr Accubond for the bigger stuff/up close.

I've always wanted to try the 150gr Scirocco - might track down a few for the roar...
