Anyone run this? Going to pick up some later this week as much better BC than my existing pills but also looking at a more LR load that is not too $$$$ but still quality. Will be for targets and hunting out to 400m+

Kills Tahr out to 400yds no fuss. 16" .308 BP. First choice. 2650 fps.

Its a great projectile. Not what I'm running at the moment, but use to use it in another .308 I had.

I have used both 150gr and 165gr SST, the 165gr was an improvement in terms of terminal performance. Almost always existed and when it didn't it was still on one piece, The 150gr wouldn't always do either. Although both bullets killed stuff fine.... Vast majority of my deer are shot at under 100m, but I'd say you'd be fine out at 400m.

I prefer 165gr bullets in the .308 over 150gr. Although will give the 130gr Barnes a go at some stage, but monolithics are a different beast altogether.

I run them exclusively in my 16" 308, same MV as 257 states.

They are an improvement over the 150 in my opinion in accuracy as well. Brother in law uses them a bit further out than me his last deer was 300m..bush hunting they have flattened everything I've shot.

I use ADI 2208 Federal large and Lapua Brass

I thought the bushpig concept was for a short close range rifle that was easy to lug in close cover without a scope the size of a midget submarine stuck on top. Also generally supressed as short means barky.
In my opinion 400 is a reasonable range for the 308 irrespective of barrel length and way further than the bushpig concept was intended for. How often do people expect to shoot to that kind of range with one of these?
Im guessing 16 inch is a common bush pig barrel length cutting 6 off a 22 to start with? So you loose about 150 fps at the muzzle giving you a more rainbow trajectory that makes ranging allthe more inmportant.
I guess Im just interested in the whole concept and would like to have explained exactly what need it fills

For the record, my results come from three different rifles. Barrels were 22", 20" and now a 19". In all cases I have found that the SST shot best at 1-0.5 gr below book max using AR2206H. I've never had access to a chronograph so no idea of speed.

Marty- the bushpig has evolved to a much more capable all rounder. Through reloading you can still throw a solid pill at good speed even from a short barrel allowing medium range(300-500m) possible while still having a short, light rifle. Mine for example has shot tahr out to just under 500m(not by me) and it about cut a fallow in half at 180m. For pesting/fun i have a speer 125gr load coming out at 2980/2990fps from my 16.5" barrel. Basically i wanted a cheapish rifle to cover my bases and this does it for me.

2206h and Fed210, case is full, to go any faster requires fooling about with H335 or W748, played with them to get the TTSX 130 and 110 going fast, but, given the TTSX runs out of fast killing fairly quickly and doesn't kill any better than the SST, why bother.

I've just recently changed from 125gr accubonds doing 3000fps to 168gr ELD - M projectiles. Think they're doing around 2650. Can't quite remember. Have had good success so far on two goats at 70ish meters. Looking forward to trying them out on something a bit further away.
