does that make the target more dead?

i always collect my brass and throw it in a container. i have spent 3 boxes of hornady and check them all out on the weekend after seeing this thread and not one has a split or even a line. Shooting the new ruger american. could the casing be getting scored ejecting from the mag or even loading the mag or from being pushed into the chamber?

haha i'll see if i can do that. I did notice that the ruger has a port in the chamber for this type of failure as well.

I have only used hornady but a mate gave me some old hornady and some CCI on the weekend so i'll see what that stuff does.

I also use Hornady and have the odd misfire as well .. Doesn't bother me the things had so many rounds through it its not funny and is deadly accurate... It always has the firing pin mark deep in the case same spot every time when that happens but no bang...

Never a problem I'm usually shooting Myna birds at 100 mtrs plus so you get another go at them ha ha ...

what glass you using? a myna at 100 isn't much to look at. i've had no misfire or split cases but i'll keep trying.

I have a CZ 452 American and have never had a split case. I clean my barrel after each outing. Probably fired 1000-1500 rounds.

So I finally had a few case ruptures today. I tried out some CCI and three out of fifteen shots ruptured the casing. I noticed a couple of rounds were actually cracked in the box

@smidey you've worn it out time for a new one! Did have a Hornady the other day fire but the powder didn't ignite, put the projectile just into the rifling, next round wouldn't chamber, thank god, be wary of rounds that don't sound right

Hi guys yes their is a problem with misfiring ammo and the projectiles getting suck in front of chamber and yes you can get another round in a rush and man dose it go bang and the extra came out of bolt and blow the mag out and into lots of paces all over the bike . I have a box of misfire in the gunroom, pull a projectile out and look at the powder ,it will be one big lump it is very dangers for some reason!i have fired about 15000 though my ruger Ruger.

Fark no, not run in yet! Haha
I've probably only been through about 200 rounds. A mate that had hmr a few years who gave me some cci ammo as he sold the gun, first casing ruptures I've seen and I just checked the remaining rounds and three are cracked in the neck. Back to the Hornady, no problems with that yet

Are they bad for the chamber?

I have had a few factory 6.5 cases rip when using them in my 6.5AI. I always wonder if its bad for the gun. Think about 3 have done it out of 120 or so

was a common problem , worse for the semis , it was the reason alot on manufactures pulled the 17 semis off the market when it was the only brand (hornady/CCI) of ammo avaliable , the new winchester brass is better and usually fixes the problem
