    180gr Swift Scirocco opinions please

So I'm heading to Fiordland soon for the roar..
Normally I shoot Sako Gamehead Pro 165gr Sierra Gamechanger but my two most recent boxes the tips just break off by touching them and I dont trust them anymore.

So, I have the opportunity to purchase some 180gr Scirocco factory ammo. Have shot it thru my rifle in the past and it shot fine, but only at paper.
Does anyone have experience with the Scirocco on deer?
Info on the net seems slim.

Can’t see why they wouldn’t do the job, swift have a good reputation for taking big game.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

They're were one of the projectiles used by the yanks I used to do a bit of guiding for and saw them flatten a few big reds no problems so I'm sure you'll be happy with them

Pretty sure they are a bonded bullet, said to retain weight very well and hit hard, I know a guy that guides and he uses them for his client rifle. He rates them pretty highly

I've used them in the 270 and worked well on reds of all sizes. Similar performance to an Accubond by all accounts.

I ran them in the wsm for a bit. They were very accurate but I found them a very hard projectile and unless bone was hit they tended to pencil resulting in tracking wounded animals which I hate doing so went back to amax/eldm's

What caliber are you running them in? Given the 180 gn I assume 300WM or WSM ? As others have stated they are a bonded construction so need to be drive hard and do their best work with terminal velocities >2200 fps, some might argue 2400. I have run in 7mm 150gn in magnums with good results so long as you don’t push the range too far. As @wsm junkie stated hitting bone is helpful
    7mmwsm and 338MAN mk2 like this.

    Sako 85 30/06.
Where I hunt is a jungle, 70m would be a long shot so even though its not a magnum, impact velocity would still be 2200fps+
