    #2 musket

Loading to club meet tomorrow, 500/450, 500 grain projectile on a grease cookie, felt wad and 71 grains of Holy smoke FFG
About 1300 odd FPS, at a guess, just put a higher foresight on the rifle to lower the p o impact over 50 meters. 30 bangs on the shoulder tomorrow!!Name: EF991EEE-C9AB-4AA1-939A-2146E270BDE0.jpeg

WHAT !! No piccies of the musket? Whilst looking at your loads, I wondered how thick are your grease cookies?

I think I made my first reload attempts for the MH Mk IV too thick or too solid as I'm able to chamber all my reloads before firing but after firing a just couple of rounds the third will not chamber enough to close the block. Severe cleaning resolved the problem and can't think of any reason apart from over fat or hard grease cookies gumming up the chamber.

My grease cookie I’d just a wad of beeswax, the pressed sheet used in beehives. The rifle grouped like a mad woman’s shit! and about 8” high, so I used my trapdoor 45/70 to restore calm!! Back to the drawing board, less powder and lighter projectile

Thank You but no. As i said, I have 7 kg of Bees wax already, I have no need for any more as I can melt and mix to produce a range sheets of thicknesses. I note Macas reply of 2 mm and should the 5mm cookies I loaded yesterday prove troublesome, I will then try his suggestion.
