So finally, a conclusion to the tests. Got out yesterday and shot the last 6 I had of the 220 ELD-X.

A charge of 45 grains of Belmont 760 is where I finished up with two shots averaging 2180fps from the 20 inch barrel. Loaded to mag length 2.88 inches with 60 thou of jump. Still no pressure signs! Couldn't get any more powder in there anyway lol

Could definitely get something to work I reckon, only had 6 left so rather small data group.

i was getting 2450 fps with a 208 amax in a 22" 10 twist. cant remember the load though but it was 2208 for sure. like shooting torpedoes lol
If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.

Shit I only just seen this....
I ran the 208gr eldm in a howa varmint 10t for ages shot a heap or reds and wallabies with them 2208 in lap lrp brass had them singing at 2630fps. I did mill my mag well out so I could run 80odd mm from.the factory offering.

I did play with the 225gr eldm with rl19.
Definitely got them fast enough but couldn't stabilize them in the 10t with the low MV.

Rl19 got me to around 2600 but would key hole at 100. I can tell you now the recoil was really odd. Really really sharp.

    Any other questions sing out

Was that a 26 inch barrel model? Mine is the 20 inch Sporter. 2630 is pretty awesome from a 308! That's certainly a hammer. I really just wanted to see what would happen and it turns out it would be a viable load with the 220. I would love to have tried the 208s but at the time I couldn't get any.

I'm honestly amazed at what this value priced rifle is capable of, just about any load I've developed will shoot moa or better with very little mucking around.

I didn't see this but used to run the 225 eld ms out of my 1 in 8" 16.5 inch Bergara Single shot. Used to load them over 3" Coal to just off the lands. In Palma brass and around 40 grains of 2208 was getting 2400fps with RL17 and around 2300fps with 2208 they seriously hammered game. Shot a few cham and reds with them before getting lazy going back to shooting the factory Superformance 168 eld m loads. They are soft but I do typically aim for bone never recovered any game but left cricket ball sized exits with regularity our to 350yards. Shot them further working out dope but didn't take game any further. Heard they are a bit harder than the 208s so didn't really want to get down past that 1800fps impact.

Those are some impressive numbers, the lowly 308 ay?

Anyhow I was looking through my notes from the last time out and the load at 43 grains gave me 2150 fps...so these may have been going faster than that at 45 grains. Stupid chronograph, always playing tricks on cloudy days

If I still have this rifle and get to play with the 220s again I'll have to do some long range validation I think.
