Is 5 thou off the lands not to long for the Tikka magazine?
I use the hornady OAL Gauge to measure the lands - AND the length of the loaded rounds ...

5 thou off the lands for the VMax 53 is - you are correct - too long for the standard magazine . @kiwigreg does a mod for this to the standard Tikka magazine . I've just received mine and its awesome ...

Does the magazine accommodate 75gr Amax and equivalent bullets?
    What is the mod?

It's whatever length you need. Send him a magazine and a dummy round (empty case no primer and seated projectile ) and he'll lengthen it for you

Hmmmm I will look into that.

Do you think the Hornady gauge is a must have for accurate reloading?
I have considered one in the past, but never bit the bullet and got one. (pun intended)

Most definitely. Not the most expensive piece of reloading gear you'll ever buy .... But certainly the most usefull.
