.230 caliber? Is there such thing?

Hey guys bit of a random one from someone who knows very little about reloading etc.
I've always wondered why more mainstream/factory ammunition seems to skip anything .230 size?
For example .223 skip to .243 then 25-06,260,270 and so on .
    Cheers in advance

There was a 230 Ackley with a projectile dia of .230 so it was less than 230 calibre. Projectile dia of a .230 calibre rifle should be around .238. Other wildcats likely exist.

Just guessing, but I imagine it would fall in between a varmint round and game round. While it could be a good all rounder, it wouldn’t be permitted for game in countries with minimum calibre sizes for hunting. In those countries, it would be overkill as a dedicated varminter.

    Greetings All,
There is a bigger gap between .276 (7mm) and .300 (7.62mm or 30 calibre) than .218 (22 calibre) and .236 (6mm). No one seems keen on filling this one. Italy and others had a 7.5mm at one time and there were some .280 calibres but they are all gone. I have given bore dia as this is generally what is referred to as calibre.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Interesting caliber, never heard of that one before. Aparently a training round for the 577/450 Martini Henry and 303 used with inserts.
