exit wound of a bull tahr from a 180eldm courtesy of a mate when I told him that there is a guy saying they are no good for tahr. He has shot alot of tahr and reckons the eldm is his favorite medicine for them

Here we go, 150 VLD pushed by a 270 600yds, drilled right through both shoulders and left a big ass drain hole (my earlier statement of "fist sized" may have been a slight exaggeration haha) pretty impressive performance

appreciate all the replys, been a busy day at work. the 260 I'm getting is from @Mathias and it is a AI so hence the increased velocity. so haven't personally done any load development yet but looking to order some bits, will obviously have a yarn to him about what has been working best for him. was thinking of running some 140gr partitions upto 250yds and then the 147 eldm for further along. if no joy with those then i will have a look into something else. has been some helpful advice and appreciate the vid from @gimp good when they drop like that.

ELDMs are a long range target bullet.
So are VLD's. So are ELDX.

People designed the Accubond, the TTSX and the Partition for a reason. Use them.
If it were me, I'd go Barnes 127gr LRX and develop a good load for it. They work.

Probably because they work and everyone who uses them swears by them?

You say we shouldn’t use ELD-M on tahr as we should respect the game, then you tell us you have used .22 LR on goats. They are game and deserve respect too. Seems a bit contradictory to me.

Or just shoot em with the eldms. They kill shit mint. Running 2 loads is a pita

Im trending back to ordinary bullets. Loading Fusions & Ballistic Tips at the moment. Ballistic tips of any weight are hard to go past.

165 grn BT @ 3K. 250 yards. Ouch.

Im loading the 160 in my 7mmsaum. Brian uses the 150 in his 270wsm and they are excellent, and I tried the 150 in my 300saum and they killed well too, Very good bullets and their beauty is that they are no problem to get to shoot well.

I've gone full circle and back to loading partitions. I did not love the ELD-X at all they were very accurate but very explody. Shot one deer in the shoulder and whole front end was rooted

I wanted to shoot partitions but they are pricey so under @chainsaws recommendations I went with the speer hcsp. Less than half the price and are terrific performers
