Both cals would most likely be a bit pedestrian with a short barrel and would not gain much over the standard chambering for each.

I have tried heaps of recommended powders in my .260 imp.
    I get 3015fps, 130gr bullet with a 24" barrel
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.

20" barrel Model 7 getting 2900 with 130gn and could go faster, using 2209.
    22" barrel T3 getting 2950 with 130gn.

If the extra fps really mattered that much, I would go to a longer barrel of different calibre, trying to drive them any faster is getting away from their real strengths, great penetration at modest velocity giving modest recoil allowing the average shooter greater control over accuracy.
    Timmay and Tikka7mm08 like this.

What cal? Are you're talking standard .260 using 2209?

That's impressive Vol I was hoping to get between 2900 and 3000fps so may stick to the standard chamber although I gained 150fps with my 25-08IMP over the standard chamber.

If I want fast, I'll go to my 2506, the .260 in this case is standard and 20" - 130 Sierra hp Gameking getting 2900 with 46.5gn 2209, no pressure and I reckon I could get more, but I suspect that over pressure when it arrives will arrive real fast.

Every rifle is different, I got lucky with this .260, fast barrel and not too fussy to find fast accurate loads for
