They are a solid deer the Mulies ,similar weight to our Red deer but our reds are more leggy looking.
Chubby those loads are looking ok especially the 52.5 gr load, did you check speed?

chubby try just a single diamond using the first 1" marks and see how you go...thats one busy target....easy to get distracted. nice tidy wee group all the same.
Thanks @Micky Duck I'll give that a go next time, measured the group today for curiosity and measured @ .74" across center to center of the furthest apart 2 holes pretty pleased with that, I'm sure I could improve on that shooting off a bench and bags at the range without the sand flies but thats plenty good enough for hunting.
Gonna spend some time shooting @ 300 yds next time for practice, will be interesting to see how that goes.
Want to get used to shooting using the b&c reticle as its faster than dialing for hunting situations.
Not sure what the book max is with that powder but you could go up slowly at .5 grs of powder at a time and see what happens. You may tighten the groups more.
I had a load of 51.5grs of 2209 with the 140 gr Noslar BT which Chrono at 2870 fps.
So long as your pressure signs are good and no sticky bolt you should be right, first sign of pressure back off up to a grain of powder.
I went out today for a shoot to sight in my 30 06 and took my 270 for a shot as well. Didn't shoot a very good group about 2 inch but I know that load can do a lot better but what surprised me is the average velocity from the last time I ried them has increased a small bit. The first time I tried the 145 ELD X and 57 grs of Superformance I got an average velocity of 3114 fps over 6 shots, today after 4 shots that registered I got an average velocity of 3144 fps. A 30 fps increase. That certainly touches on the 270 WSM performance in a standard round.
Can anyone explain to me why the Berger 150g vlds are nearly twice the price of the 150 g ssts ? Big difference or am I missing something ?
Always found Berger projs in 6.5 and 7mm calibers to be a very consistent weight and dimensionally. I.e a box of 6.5 140 grain vld were perfect, bar half a dozen that were a tenth of a grain heavy. Put them against a box of hornady 143 eldx and only half the box were 143, the rest were between half a grain light to heavy and a handful were over a grain out. Probably wouldn’t matter to most, but it makes you think hard when you’re working up a load.
As for the price, Berger aren’t a magic wand that turn a bad shot into a good shot but they do kill very well right throughout a large range of speeds. I don’t shoot enough to find the price an issue so I’ll stick with them for now.
Cheers Cliff
