I have a barrel in 270wsm if he wanted to rebarrel something, unfired even. Pulled it from a new rifle when I had my 6.5SAUM built
Trust the dog.........................................ALWAYS Trust the dog!!
150 BegerVLD at 3050fps, could easily run it faster, +3" at 110yds gets you -3" at 320, doesn't take much to hold for 400.
You want a 24" barrel.
You don't need a suppressor, a pussycat to shoot.
But not for sale, Sako A7 import, stainless factory black ceracote, 24" fluted barrel and bolt, B&C stock, runs the 110 TTSX at 3400 easily too, the thing rivals the mighty 7mmMag unless you run the biggest 7mm pills, if you can find one grab it!
I rate mine, standard t3 with brake. Burris full field 4.5 -14 with good rings and bases. I brought scope to suit rifles trajectory
Using factory 130gr loads zeroed at 200 yrds on 14x , next dash down is 300 yrds next 400, 500 then top of point 600ish. And while not exactly working out, its very close. No real though has to go into holdover or dialing. Just a educated guess between dashes.
The poor thing gets treated like a hillstick/scrub seperater and never needed to resight it in in 5 years, just put the odd checker thru it. Still shoots sub moa.
Now using 110gr home loads and have been more than impressed, digging progectiles out of reds from 10yrds to 600+ and they are doing the business.
Im yet to be disappointed with it in 6 years of owning it.
I had a 270wsm for five or so years. Until I got bored with it and wanted to go upto 7mm. I was using 140 accubonds at 3100fps iirc, not fadt but accurate.
I never recovered a projectile from it. Pig, thar, fallow, goats or rabbits.
I would day get a 7mm rem mag second hand. Good buying on some
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
I had one. Out of ten deer shots I had Ten runners it was fast as and accurate as. One stag I shot had no shoulder left but still ran 200 mtrs after bouncing off the track 100 mtrs in front of me .Impressive but no thanks after a heap of different loads went f this One shot one kill way better. Loved the speed hated the runners ! Maybe I m useless but stopped and dropped more deer one shot with 223 and 308
"This is my Flag... Ill only have the one ..
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more
i had a tikka 270 wsm that i loved. i used 150grain nosler bt projectiles with 69gr or 2225 got them going 3000 3050fps using the factory length barrel. was deadly accurate. didnt bother with a surpressor because it was a one shot kill and thats all i needed. bloody shame i sold it to get a shitty peice of shit 7mm08 i thought would be good for in the bush and long range. worst decision ever. still want another wsm to this day but might make it a 7mmwsm instead.
really?????? if projectile is the same and speed is the same (which you will get from std case with decent barrel length) 400yards isn't a big deal point and shoot..heck even with old loads that's not more than a backline hold.
oh I see you not a fan of the REAL 7mm at all..SO wouldn't matter if it was .270 weatherby/ WSM Winchester or 6.8 spc 1 or 2 it wouldn't squeal ya wheels LMAO
Attachment 37011 hehehehehe
.270 Win driving a 150gnSST (G1 bc 495) at 2950, a reasonable speed for the calibre: +2.8" at 110yds gets you - out to 310yds without shifting point blank aim, you only need a couple of inches of hold to get you to 400yds, and it will still be holding 1645 foot pounds at 2200fps, enough for any animal in this country, and most others. I have both WSM and standard, and would only choose one over the other on a coin toss, actually prefer my 2506, and it will kill anything in NZ at 400yds without trouble.
