284 Win loads and barrel length

Are there a few of you that will be willing to share your 284 Win loads and barrel length? What would the minimum and ideal barrel length be according to you guys?

I'm just running a bergara scout that was rechambered from 7mm08, 22 inch barrel, only loaded it with RL19 to max in the hornady manual, 150gr nosler BT has been long throated so now attempting to push past the manual max. No pressure signs yet. Love it wish I had it going ages ago.

    19" 2770 162eldm with 2209.
Got 2 much more accurate loads doing between 2750 and 2800 using 150SGK and 145 speer HCSP with 2209 and 2208.
    I wouldn't go shorter than 19/20" personally.

I’ve got a .284 on a tikka 16inch barrel throated long, rl17 53 or 53.5g 150g eld-x can’t quite remember shooting 2650fps pressure issues going any higher than this. Also shoots the SGK 150g really well with the same load.

17” had 162 ELD-M at 2750fps with Rel 17. Settled on a slower load with 2209 though. If I was going to build one again it would be 18”.

Probably not relevant to your rifle and barrel length but I have a Howa long action rebarreled with a 28” Trueflight

    162 eld-m’s or 168 Bergers

    2209, 2213 and 100v all making 3000

All .5 or under, can’t decide between them

20in bbl RE17 or Superformance gets me ~2830 FPS with 160TmKs or 162AMAX.
This was consistent across 2 different rifles REM700 & MK5 Weatherby wearing 20in bbls. For comparison my Tikka 284 (not a factory bbl) I rebarreled at 22 in. This gets me 2930 FPS with 160 - 162gn pills with RE17.

“Best” bbl length is really a question about your intended use & type of hunting. If you’re a bush hobbit and want to occasionally reach out to 5-600 yds then 18in would suit well. But if you’re alpine tops hunting and want 7-800 or more then you would be better off 20+. Horses for courses

    As per Chainsaw

My latest 284 has 20inch and is an Alpine/all-rounder

With RE16 and 162 ELDX it will do 2800fps
With 760 and 162 ELDX it will do 2700fps
    With RE16 and 140 BTs it’s accurate at 3000fps

CraigC has the Ultimate Rig and we are waiting a write up
