Thread: a 284 win question

i am contemplating having a barrel made for something like a LR10 in 284 win . the barrel chamber can be done .thing i dont know is if the mag will hold and feed that cartridge .
will it?

Greetings misser,
To find out for sure you need to actually try the cartridge in the mag and action. The .284 case is longer and fatter than the .308 and projectiles need to be seated deeper to go in the mag all possible causes for problems.

Not too many people will have current experience in playing with lr10's these days in NZ. being a semi and all.
.284 can be done on a mag fed short action, Tangent Ogive projectiles 160 grains and under work best

If you have older style twin feed ramps, then you may have to modify them to get feeding with the fatter case.

are you's familiar with a UPR10 ?? its a bolt action upper for a LR10/AR10 lower .feed ramp is abit different than a AR10 gas gun. i likely could use a bob sled as a replacement mag if the mag would not work . not really wanting to make a single feed gun .
