Kens Pet Loads series were comprehensive and were my first read data sets for many years. His early articles, including the one featured were written while he was still working full time.

if you consider most times a pighunter wont fire more than a single shot...very occasionally a quick 2nd one.....as long as you decipline self..you can quite safely use pointy projectiles...1 in the chamber and 1 ONLY in magazine.

Plenty of replies and plenty of info here to chew over. I haven't actually grabbed any projectiles yet so could move up to 120 130 grain size still.
The 150s are just a bit of an overkill thats all so hence going to smaller projectiles.
I've never worked with the crimping dies etc so there's a bit to learn here

Even if you go to 130 grain projectiles they are still varmint bullets and too weak for pigs over weaner size
the 30/30 was designed as a Deer rifle to shoot 150 and 170 grain bullets the chamber is cut to suit those bullets and the twist rate
    of 1:10" is for 150/170,
If you use a 150 grain and load it with the recommend start load it is not an overkill it is the high velocity that does the damage not the weight
unless you use Lee dies all other seating dies will crimp bullets
I still think your best move is cast bullets the 30/30 is one of the perfect cast bullet cartridges
