30 cal 168 AMAX on game (reds, fallow, sika)

digging thru my reloading stuff and realised I had a box or 2 of the old 168 AMAX's. So wondering about using these in 308, short bbl ~18 in. Have used 165 BT's in past in this set up but would like to try these. Read quite a few good comments on the old 178 AMAX's. Whats the go with the 168's ? good, bad or indifferent ?

I still have about 100 of these, loaded and ready to go. Stone cold killers. Engine room shot, in through the front of the shoulder, its over in seconds.

If you don't plan on using yours, I'll happily buy them off you.

They are very explosive bullets, even at low impact velocity

I used to use them launched at 2750fps, dropped lung or neck shot deer on the spot but had a few fail to penetrate shoulders with anything meaningful up close and requiring multiple shots to anckor, vitals just peppered with fragments while the whole shoulder was jelly. + 200y they were great.
Been using the 178 amax for quite a while now launched at 2975 fps(different chambering) and it is like a completely different bullet...way more than 10 grns of weight would suggest, have shot quite a few reds from up close out to 500y and every one has dropped on the spot and had an exit.....even had a two for one when I didn't realise another was standing in the same pose behind both shot in the crease both dropped on the spot.

I shoot the new 168 ELD M at 2620 in my bergara and they are lethal. Il see if I can dig up a photo of the exit wound at 430 yards on a chamois. Entry was a pin hole behind the opposite shoulder.

    Found it:
