208 amax doing 3000 fps out of a 300 wm? You got to be joking?
That would have to be an extremely hot barrel burning load.
Whats the point in stressing the living daylights out your barrel and brass?

My advice would be to back off the pressures and simply dial a click or two more.

Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.

I'm using the 208g A-Max, have found them quite good out to 400M, (max range I've had a change at) not sure of the figures but by the ADI book on 2213SC...am looking at working up a load of Sierra 210 MK...with the ADI 2225, I hear it is very good

Might try the primer change as I tend to get a sticky bolt like @Germe has said, still learning about this gun but she is going good so far...

    I run the 208 A-MAX in my 30-338 at 3150fps x 102gn adi2225 in a SSRNZ single shot(pressure signs started at 3300fps). Shoots under 1/2", have shot 1 1/4" at 300mtr.
Just about finished my 5th packet of bullets and barrel still scrubs up really well (checking with bore scope).
Best hunting shots were at 890yds 5 goats in five consecutive shots, with serious damage even at that range.

Are the bc's a lot higher? Seems a heavy round for the 308, for game.

208's in the 300wm are good and reliable on venison , imo can bruise the hell outta the meat under 400 tho . 210 vld's been been ok no complaints yet ,im working up hybrid 215 atm haven't put one in meat yet , have seen where others speak highly of the 215 hybrid on game so time will tell ..

215 Berger Hybrid with 74grains of 2217 with Norma brass, getting 2870 FPS from a 26 inch barrel. I think I must have a fairly tight chamber as I started to get pressure signs about 1 grain below the Book max.
I found I got similar speeds with the 215 Hybrid and the 208 AMAX, apparently it has something to do with the short bearing surface.
I've only shot one animal with the Hybrid but it seemed to do the job, it left a pretty decent exit hole. (Tahr at around 600m)

76.5 gr 2217, 208 amax, Nosler brass, 3.608 aol and Winchester magnum primers, I normally use Federal primers but found that the Winchester ones worked better this time after loading with both, 2885 fps

Interesting read, in my 7mm RM I get 2917 FPS, with R22 - I'm wondering if I should try 2225 for more speed?

    Sorry, a bit off topic...

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts
