Thread: 300 Blackout loading with Frangible ammo

Im running with a barrel just over 13 inches . 90 grain xtp with 8.0 grain as50n =1/2 flat primers so these werent subsonic
5.5 grain were still going fast ,but then i started playing with other powders [my bad ]

my rig is a tad shorter @ just over 13 inches
90 grain xtp @ 8.0 grain as50n had 1/22 flat primers so wasnt subsonic
got down to 5.5 grain still fast but then ventured off to other powders [my bad ]
Have now made a 5 set of your brew to test

Cool, interested to hear how you get on with any other sub loads as well. I've just loaded up some 190gr sub-x projectiles. Not sure exactly on velocity but point of impact is near enough to same as the 90gr XTPs out to 100m, so that will work for me. Now just need to get a chance to head out and find some bigger game to try them on.

I found inceptor 88gr projectiles to work very well in a 14” barrel with 1/8 twist. I only tried two different load ladders (one slow 4.5 -5.5 TB) And one using the published data.

There wasn’t much variation in accuracy right across the samples and at 50 even the subsonic was still close to normal zero.

Shame that they are no longer available in nz.

in my barrel the 90 xtp was poa/poi @ 50m with your brew of 4.50 grain AS50N powder [ scope set to zero @ 75m with the Hornady 190grain sub-x]
Very pleased with that outcome Mate .have loaded some of the same projectile with 5.00 grain AS50N just to see what happens at the longer range

i have found the longer and heavier projectile on top of T.B are not speedy enough to clear the barrel
180 grain LRN x 5.0 grains of T.B is a squid hahaa
Yes its a pity the 88 grain pills are not any more would have been fun to try them

i still havent sourced any 30 cal Frangible projectiles by themselves but seen on Ammo Direct that they have 308 ammo with this pill fitted
QUESTION Has anybody pulled frangible projectiles without breaking them and how tight is the crimp on this type of factory ammo
could i just use a impact puller
