Have you shot 165 SST-s from your 300 @Pommy ? I was thinking to use 165 SST for longer shots then 130 TTSX in bush out of 24" barrel 1:10 twist. No brake or suppressor. Shooting reds and sika.
I've not shot anything lighter than 180's mate. But I'd probably pick something like the 178 ELD-X rather than have two loads.

I load for my nephews 300 WSM which is a Rem 700. COAL for his rifle for mag fit is 74 mm. I load 69 grs of RL 26 with the 200 gr ELD X for a speed of 2957 fps out of the 24 inch barrel. This load is accurate shooting an inch or less at 100 yds depending on the shooter. It is a excellent killing load nothing moves far after a good hit.

We verified that load at 400 yards, according to the Ballistic chart there would be 17 inches drop and that was what we got so the velocity must be about right. We have also shot this load out to 625 yards on my gong and at 3 liter milk bottles with a good consistency of hits. I don't think I would like to be trying to many shots on animals, it's a long way.

Have you tried Winchester brass Pommy? It's good and hard, and tolerates some warm/hot (over ADI book) loads for my 270WSM. It's borderline too hard though, and I get the odd split neck unless I anneal every 3 firings or so.

Relatively inexpensive too, which is a bonus.

200gr ELD X with 61.5gr RL17 has it doing 2940fps with my WSM. Wicked projectile. Longest shot so far is 690mtrs on a goat, collapsed in a big heap.

If you are limited in Mag length I would look at running a 178 ELD-X or another 180gr
Im using 178gr seated at mag length in one of my wsms and using 208gr ELD-M seated long in the other.

Hornady manual has a load listed for 178gr and Superformance with a max of 69.6gr and +-3100 FPS

Hey man, I was shooting 208 gr ELD M from Tikka, standard barrel. 2213 powder, Norma brass and mag length, was only doing 2770 FPS but was still punching through deer out at 600 metres. Have gone to shorter barrel with the ELD X 178 gr and reloder 17, shoots easy 1/3 - 1/4 inch at mag length, doing 2840 fps in 20" barrel. Try the Hornady book load, seems to work well in a lot of rifles.

This is a .30 cal 150TTSX @ 300 yds. 3150 fps. They work just fine up close.

In the vid it looks like I hit it a bit back but I was angling for where I wanted the bullet to go. It went right through it and was lodged in the off shoulder (see the pic).

130ttsx at 400yd, spine shot above the shoulder. Didn’t hit much bone at all.
On the left. The one on the right is from a double shoulder shot at 150yds.
    Both out of 14.5” .308 at 3023fps
