    308 150gr corelokt factory

hey guys box says 2820fps which is tested in a 24" bbl. Am shooting out of a 20" barrel. Assuming 25-30fps lost per inch can i assume 2700fps is a safe bet to use until i verify? Not shooting too far but perhaps 300m-350m. Anyone verified speed in the same length barrel? Know it won't be exactly the same but keen to know.
    Regards

Yep, good place to start for sure. Best way to test is shoot a group at 100m then say 300m or better 400m and use that to calculate BC / Speed

I know mate, will be testing my reloads shortly but hunting Saturday and if I see something a little further out i wanna have a crack. Big kill zone on these animals but going to limit my range to 300

Wouldn't surprise me if it is a good 2-300fps slower than what the box says out of your barrel. Take anything the box says with a grain of salt.

@superdriver I think that is a good idea until you can confirm it.

Great bullet that corelokt, but not the the slickest for longer range.

Not exactly what you are after, but I have a 16.5inch 8 twist Bergara and get 2600 fps.

No that is helpful. Definitely should be around that 2700 mark then although 1:11 twist

Yeah, seems like that will be ball park. Dammed if I could get them to group though. I don't think the fast twist barrel liked them. Have ended up with a 180gr.

Just zero your rifle at 200 , at 300 youl only have 6-7 inches of drop .

Rifle already zeroed at 100m. If i had the time rezero at 200 I would either chrony or check drop at distance

I always go for accuracy over speed.,put any decent 150g pill from a 308 into the boiler room of a deer it will die.

FYI took the corelokts out to the range rather than hunting. Guessed 2700fps and elevation was bang on. 20" bbl and 1:11 twist unsuppressed, box says 2820 so 25-30fps lost per inch was pretty close in this case
