Just remember, any rutting-stag needs to be hit properly with any reasonable caliber...testosterone and adrenalin are a powerful combo... and .270's are great with 110gr pro-hunters..the only weight I bother using in them
    superdiver and takbok like this.

I think a few might have missed the Sierra GK in this case is the hollow point, in all calibers this particular bullet is tough and punches hard, a heavy bodied Bull Tahr at 5 feet? just the bullet you want! bc's are not great but as a 300yd pill I have used it lots and like it.

Yeah I ran the 165s in my 308 @257weatherby and it killed real hard on tahr, chamois, fallow and goats. But heard so much great stuff about the pro hunters so it is hard to make my mind up.

I have never tried the 110's but I have used the 90grn HP's on chams and goats. I don't want to come back as either one of them in another life !! And yes a stirred up stag can take some knocking down
Big and fast is best, but for what we are talking - a 260 we cant have both so a fast tough bullet must be better than a heavy but slow one - I think both these points being the general conclusion and the conclusion that superdiver had come too before posting. So which bullet is light enough to be driven fast and will open fast but still hold together ?.
Still think the Partition would be hard to beat out to 300metres
Personally I think the 260 is probably the best of the 308 derived chamberings and wouldn't mind one myself

I think 140s in 708 or 150s in 308 do that happy medium well...as do 140s in 260 if you crank it a bit
