    6.5-284 with 130gn and 2209

    Gidday Folks

Does anyone have data and or experience with the 6.5-284 loaded with 130 gn (Nosler LRABs are what I have on hand) using 2209/H4350 under the hood? I realise it's a tad fast but I have heaps of it and H4350 used to be favored by the F Class guys in this cartridge for accuracy.

There's not much out there and I'd like a few more data points for comfort!

    Thanks

Not really what you are wanting, but my 24" 6.5CM will do 2950fps with 130gr ELD-Ms and 44.0gr of 2209.

I use Berger 140s with 48.5 gns of 2209 as a accuracy load. 51.5 is my full gas load. Lapua brass. Fed match LR primers. Long action 700. Seated out.

    That should be enough info.

Had the briefest of windows to get some rounds assembled and get to the range, and once on the range time was of the essence there to get everyone through before dark.

So I shot a quick ladder from 46.0 gns to 48.5. Man I like this rifle, the 6 shot ladder was MOA. There appears to be a node at about 48.0 grains at 2795 fps. GRT suggests that there may also be a node at 50.00 grains and 2920 ish fps and well within max CIP pressure. That would be a very nice "270" equivalent for my short action rifle.

Watch the video from Hornady I posted in the 3 shot thread. They debunked the whole “node” idea.

I was using 51 Grains of 2209 under a 140 Grain SST for right at 3000 FPS and a 1 MOA group
Changed to H1000 as that's what I could get - and dropped back a bit in speed to 2770-ish, but better accuracy

I also found h1000/2217 to have lower es, better accuracy though 2209 is very acceptable

The 6mmBr site has some good loading info on this cartridge.
