I know I shouldn't say this but....................all this hassle to get .270 performance?????
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
Your right you shouldn't say it, just think it
I have heard the Tiika/Sako barrels dont take well to improving sometimes due to a hard surface but removeing the whole chamber by going to the 284 case should sort that tho I havent actually talked to a smith yet.
Also I already have the 30-284 so common brass and dies and even with a 140 stuffed in it the 6.5-284 should still have well more capacity than 260ai.
On my list of round tuit jobs was to make a new mag box to suit the 284 shoulder and this would not work with the 260.
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.
308Win One chambering to rule them all.
Yes you are bang on there I have just done that. I had a 6.5/284 with a 20" barrel and it was a struggle to get 2800fps with the 130grn in a long action.
So went down the .260AI path and now I'm getting 2850fps with the same projectile and 10grns less powder although I made it a 22" barrel.
Keep what you have and put money into boat
@veitnamcam, have a chat to Hugh at Stager, he did mine, was all over it, was always in contact to discuss, I certainly couldn't be happier, it wasn't an expensive job either was well pleased...
Just showing off now...lol

Not much in it between the .260 Ackley and 6.5-284 with same bullets and barrel length.
Less powder and arguably better barrel life with the Ackley getting similar if not better velocities.
I seriously considered a 6.5-284 before choosing the Ackley.
