6.5x55: 2213SC is too slow for 120gr, I say BAH!

Everyone seems to think 2209 is the go to ADI powder for sub 140gr projectiles in the 6.5x55. 2213SC worked really well for the 129gr Interlock. The siren of accuracy was calling, so I thought why not try it with the 120gr Pro-Hunters? I did both a seating depth and charge test for each powder. Here are the results:

    2213SC:

Just in case that low one is a flyer. Here is the 2209 with it removed:

but the paper died so all is not lost...asumably projectile is traveling as some speed as it reached 100yards,thats a very dead animal with all groupings.

It maybe, but It has an SD of zero. That’s unheard of consistency.

That’s 400 projectiles to get that far.

Wait till you see what those 120's do to deer. Properly-placed, sensible range,(and closer to 3k) flattens them better than the 140's

My rifle doesn't want to run them that fast. I ended up at 2775fps with 09 and 2760fps with 13SC on a 23" barrel.

Quite @rewa , a modern 6.5x55 rifle loaded with a decent amount of 2209 using a 120gr Nosler at circa 2950 at sensible ranges is very effective
Been using 6.5x55 since the 90's , the only weight I haven't used is the 129/130gr . Well and the newer ones.
Used aforementioned 2209 with the 120 Nosler and the same load behind the 123gr amax.
Then N560 behind the 140Gr Amax @ 2750, haven't tried the larger EDL-X/M as I have a few 140 Amax's left over. Group sizes with both those powder and bullet combinations are small.
142 gr SMK's with the N560 are less than small, but I tried them once for two shots on smaller game [read Wallaby] and nope, not doing it again, never did, put the rest back in the box for steel.

Know a bloke that used the 129gr Hornady some years ago, seemed to work well for him.
Maybe @Magnetite, you could increase your loads say 0.3 at a time . I sure as shit would not use the suggested 20% plus loads first up
Trust no-one but your own measuring where your face and eyesight is concerned, then check and check again. Start lowish, work up, use established data always untill your confident .
