7mm 180 VLD Hybrid performance on game

How are these pills going on game??

I am just about out of the hunting VLD's and Powder that I setup to run them so before I set about checking groups with the next lot of powder and pills I might see how these are going

The Hybrid has a touch better BC and I have heard they work better than the hunting ones...Real results are what I am after not hearsay

I would have them running around 27-2800 fps

What distance are you wanting to shoot game to? they have a thicker jacket than the 180gr hunting bullets.
If its a 7mmsaum your using the 162Amax at 3000fps would be a better choice.
1000yds is fun, 1500yds is getting interesting, 2000yds is exciting, 2500yds will blow your mind

Groups way way better with the VLD's for some reason, Just strugle to keep the Amax groups consistant where as the 140 and 180 VLD's are the same every time with the only flyers down to shooter error. Amax was good one day then shit the next, 160AB was the same but the 140AB works a treat?????? Doesn't seem the shoot the 106 weight well for some reason.

might try a few more things with the amax including groups at 300.... but every load with the vlds has been OK and some mint

As for distance realisticly 600 but would be nice to go further with pratice....when I finish sorting a break for it as there is no show of spotting your shots ATM

I haven't tried them at 7mmsaum speed but at 3200fps they where pritty good on game out to 750 yards, 500 yards might be okay at saum speed hard to say. By far the best killer is the 162 Amax.

Absolutely hammered a big bull tahr at 450m with a 180gr hybrid this week. In through crease out through front of offside shoulder. Didn't take a step, but did fall off the rock he was on... running them at 3,300fps.
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

Interesting enough in a friends 284 Winchester that he is just started doing load developement for the most accurate powder charge was the same for VLD & hybrid just seating depth that changed. Jamming either projectiles in the lands had better ES & SD numbers over the chronograph compared to loads jumped.

That would be handy if mine was the same (not the jammed bit but same load) as I might try them in the SAUM..

The hunting VLD is softer than the hybrid which expands much like the Sierra Match-King.
