    7mm long range accubonds

Has any body any expenses in using the 150grn nobler long range accubonds on reds and sika? Have a full packet lying around but would.be interested in any real world experiences before committing to developing a load only to find they are average on deer. Especially since components are so hard to get at the moment.
    Cheers guys.

There was a write up on them recently, not sure if it were the 150gr or 168gr. My mate has a load in his 270win with the 150s and seems to do really well, think the longest so far has been nudging on 600yds.

I've run them in 7mm08, work well on reds. Can be trickie getting them to shoot well. They have a rep as a fussy projectile.

@Gkp uses the 168s out of a 7mmsaum and dominates animal's @stagstalker uses the 142s in a 260 and again has shot a shitload of fallow with them and even a massive red up close

Haven’t used the 7mm ones but as Superdiver said I run the 6.5mm 142s in my 260. Apart from being the worst projectile I have done load development with (I almost gave up but got there in the end), they work awesome on game. Shot lots of sika at ranges from 20 - 570 yards and a big red stag at 30yards that dropped dead. For terminal performance I rate them.

So what was your reason for almost giving up on them?? So what did you change to get them shooting better???

I almost gave up because I couldn’t get them shooting well. But eventually I cracked the code by working out the fine line they liked between seating depth and powder charge. Used almost a box of projectiles mucking around trying to make them work.

    55 thou jump, 48.6gr Rel 26 (260).

The 175 gr works well in my 7 mm Mag on a couple of reds so far.

As Chainsaw says, a lot of guns just plain don't like them. Fortunately, my .280 Ackley does like the 150s @ 3130 and it deals death to sika and occasionally reds. Longest so far 565yds, most 300-450 at my main spot and it levels them.

Has anyone found a particular jump that seems to be the goldilocks zone? I want to look at using them in a 284 Tikka t3x with Norma brass and have a few tubs of win 760 and a tub of superformance to try.
    Cheers

Most people try and then give up on the 7mm 168g LR's

They just don't stabilise properly in a standard twist barrel.

There is some very good information re these on the main American LR forums you can easily search up.

I did buy some once but after reading that years ago and following the results of a number of NZ long range shooters I didn't even bother trying them.

based on limited info ábove I'd start with 40 or 50 thou jump. The Superformance powder would be my pick for your 284.

What are you launching them out of?
I shot a heap of reds with 150gr LR accubond out of a 7mm saum the results were all impressive all boom flops.

Tikka t3x 284. 18 inch barrel. Been reading to much NZ Hunter and the forum and got a keen on to own a Tikka in 284. It just turned up from the south island this week. It will be wearing a delta titanium 4 to 24 that I bought from @Sarvo
