I have found the 162gr ELDM accurate and a great killer, shooting it at slower 7mm08 speeds. Not sure how good it would be up close at rem mag speeds but if most of your shooting is further out, you wont be disappointed with how they perform on animals.

Yup have used 162gn eldm's before as have also used 180gn eldm's and both have been super accurate and absolutely slay reds, I definitely share the view that 162s could be a bit soft at rem mag velocities up close, that was why we switched to 180gn eldm's. @bigbear I don't like sst as they have a reputation for being a bit explodey and meat mincey, that's my feelings on them.
Was talking to @7mmsaum and I'm gonna give 166gn ATIP a burn.
I know what definarely works, just want to try something different.

Don't get too excited. You wont need anything if I forget to bring the gun down
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

I’ve only used the 338 300 grain atips (shot two stags with them last weekend) they look cool and seem to work.

It’s funny how we (me) divert to match bullets for hunting… the 162 sst was probably made for the 7 rem mag haha

I have been running 73g 2225 with 162 ELD-M loaded to tikka mag length going a touch over 2900 out of my 22” barrel with dpt. Been very consistent at gongs at 755. Shot a tahr at 350 and dropped it on the spot.

The 180 Berger also seem to work very well at range maybe a little better with the faster speed of the fatmax.

What a homo. Should use 223 at those close ranges.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
