Thread: 7mm SAUM Loads

Hey guys, due to availability etc etc im about to start building a new load for my 7 saum with 162eldms. Ive got a few powders available to test, 2209, 2213sc, 2217, 2225 and a couple others that id prefer not use but ive read good reports on also.

So ideally id be keen to hear on others experiences if possible using the 162 and any of the listed powders, i know @GWH uses rl26 with great results, but im not interested in running 26 for this load. Currently im running 2209 with the 180 eldm but i dont have enough to continue with that load for the upcoming Desert Duel match run by GPRE (unless someone was keen to swap me some or loan until replacements are available etc) .

2213sc looks a good candidate and i think i will start there, not looking for excess speed, 2950fps is all i want- BC can do the rest.

140g to 162g projectiles

2217 and 2213sc yanks love it or use the powder you don’t won’t to use it works great in mine I did a quick load with 63.6gns and 162 eldm for about 2920 from my new 20” barrel .5moa

Before using re26 i use to use 67.5 gr of 2217 with 162 Amax. It was compressed at the OAL i ran and i got over dealing with inconsistent OAL issues, my 63gr of re26 isnt compressed, gives more velocity and shoots great.

I use rl22 with good results.
Keen to try Rl26 and superformance with the 168 lrab as the rl22 is well compacted at 54.5g
Mine shot very well with the 143 hammer and superformance. -shreds one hole on paper

Im running 168 LRABs 60gr RL19 2830fps in a 20" barrel long action tikka

Cheers guys, looks like i will definitely have a couple of powders that should give me some results. Hopfully i can find a nice stable node that just wants to get to work and do the job. Will post updates with results once i get some slugs down range
