    More interesting sections thanks @JMJW.

I stopped using the 178gr ELD-X in favour of the 165gr Speer BTSP, both shown above. My Tikka didn’t like the ELD-X so much, had a bit of difficulty getting them to behave to my liking with 2206H and 2208. Shot several smaller meat reds and large goats with them, found them to be a wee bit too much bullet for the size of animal. Blew some massive exit holes in yearling deer with that bullet. The ELD-X works best for me in 6.5mm. If I was chasing big red stags or sambar, that’s what I’d want the .30 cal ELD-X for.

The Speer on the other hand is a genuine half MOA bullet in the Tikka, and a stone cold killer at all practical ranges, without so much damage. The high BC claimed by Speer seems ok as well, I’ve used them out past 400m and at that range they’re going pretty slow out of my 18” barrel, but they hit bang on. Every bit as good if not better than the 165gr GameKing for me.

Yeah I started off using the eldx in my 19” tikka 300 wsm but just couldn’t get them to group consistently under moa, interlocks were great at 1/2 - 3/4 moa. Mate put me onto the speers due to the higher bc and I was impressed, getting nice 1/2 moa and same hole groups most of the time, 2 inch group at 460 yards, but found maybe 1 out of 8 projectiles were quite inconsistent and the coal changed when seating. Have now been put onto the eldms going 2660, same hole group, as I chase sika in bush majority of the time with the odd long range shot. Hopefully they get the job done on a good sika stag!

I put you onto those pills based on what Stevodog told me after he had spoke to @Flyblown about them if my memory serves me correct. When old mate neck shot that red at 435 and it rolled over I was a believer! If I ever reload for the old mans 308 that is what I will use

Ive shot about a dozen deer out to 475 yards with the 7mm 162 ELDM and have been very impressed (speed 3K). Passed through a solid Fallow buck at 250. Poll axed a Sika at 250. Big solid Red stag at 350 etc. All one shot kills. Plenty of penetration but no pass throughs on the bigger reds.
